Taxiway centerline markings are yellow and designed to be retroreflective. The yellow color distinguishes taxiways from runways (which use white centerlines), and the retroreflective material reflects aircraft lights at night, making the line highly visible in low light or adverse conditions. A white or nonreflective option wouldn’t serve this purpose and would be less recognizable at night.
